Full Video: Zachary Police Arrest of Disabled Veteran & Former Mayor Pro Tem

This is the full video of the December arrest of former Zachary Councilman and Navy veteran Lael Montgomery at a local McDonald’s.

Montgomery, who lives with PTSD and was experiencing a gout flare-up, says he told both staff and police he couldn’t walk. After arriving to pick up a mobile order, staff asked him to come inside—then called police when he explained he couldn’t.

He says officers ignored his condition and arrested him after he declined to spell his name. One charge became three after he requested legal counsel.

“I was punished for being sick and disabled,” Montgomery said.
