Police Raid Disrupts Local Mentorship Program
Last week, the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office raided the warehouse of Mr. Bryan Glover, owner of G&T Tires—a respected business and community hub on Plank Road.
According to reports, deputies executed a search warrant for a person who hasn’t worked in the building for quite some time. The Baton Rouge Police Department, which maintains a close working relationship with Mr. Glover, had even notified him of the raid. Many are now asking a simple question: Could the Sheriff’s Office not have contacted BRPD before tearing through the property of a well-known community mentor?
For over 20 years, Mr. Glover has operated a mentorship program for young men in one of Baton Rouge’s toughest corridors—entirely out of his own pocket. He feeds them, employs them, and takes them to church. Not one child who has come through his program has ended up in trouble. His record is a rare and inspiring 100% success rate.
Yet after the raid, instead of correcting their mistake with humility, members of the Sheriff’s Office reportedly laughed at Mr. Glover.
This community deserves better. I call on the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office and Commissioner Kory Tauzin, who signed the warrant, to issue a public apology and support Mr. Glover’s mentorship efforts financially. It’s the least they can do for a man who has quietly invested decades—and his own earnings—into saving lives.
Anyone who wishes to help Mr. Glover continue his life-changing work can reach him directly at (504) 874-6500 or by email at glover100@yahoo.com.
